2025 Day 314: New GTD Vistas, Block Planning and Deep Work

6:02 AM Monday.

Yesterday went mostly according to plan, except that I stayed up later than expected to complete a Jewish Studies lesson from Hashem. I didn't make it to bed until 11 PM. Then, surprisingly enough, I woke feeling rather refreshed at 3:50 AM. I settled in on the meditation cushion for a couple hours of prayer and religious reading, filling up nearly two sides of an index card with notes that it will take me until noon to process. Here is my concept for the next 24 hours:

  • 6-7 AM     Day 314 Blog Post and News
  • 7-12 PM   Jewish and Islamic Studies Blog Posts
  • 12-5 PM   Nap, Strength Training, Put Laundry Away
  • 5-6 PM     Supper and News
  • 6-8 PM     Native American Studies
  • 8-5 AM     Sleep
  • 5-6 AM     Prayer
  • 6-7 AM     Day 315 Blog Post and News

Yesterday was also significant in that I changed my "Spiritual Direction" area of responsibility to "Spiritual Formation" and added a total of seven new projects! Does this amount to a new GTD vista for established GTD students?

On a related note, I have been ignoring most of my other projects in order to open up into this new GTD vista, which is also a new vista on my interfaith journey of submission to Allah, i.e., the Red Road. Maybe. Let's see where the next few years of careful study together take us.

This temporary ignoring of existing projects in favor of new projects can create some tension in the GTD student's mind, I should think. This will be especially true if he or she is wedded to a time-blocking schedule that looks like the normal American high school or university curriculum. What I seem to be doing right now is moving closer to a monthly Block Plan approach. I am taking a deep dive into deep work in my Spiritual Formation role, laying down some important new projects (at least to me!) When the time is right, I will switch to deep work for days, weeks, or even a month at a time in one of my other roles. And so on. It's a lot more flexible than trying to hit every project more or less equally every week (and on the same days and times of the week, no less).

Alright, it's 6:51 AM and I just have some time to see if Axios AM has arrived in my email yet. Yep, it's there. Ah. Senate Dems compromised and progressive Dems are furious. The ball is in Speaker Johnson's court. How will House Republicans and Democrats react?

End 7:02 AM.
