Russia: My Sixth Comment on the Alleged Attack on Putin's Residence
My comment at 8:21 AM on CIA Says Ukraine Did Not Target Putin's Home:
Now I guess we need to hear what CIA Director Ratcliffe thinks of the IPCC's 6th Assessment Report. Is anthropogenic global warming (which Russian, Indian and Chinese intelligence confirm) a disinformation scam, too? Is it right? Is it a reasonable misunderstanding of the data?
See the interview with Angela Stent on the PBS News Hour for more detail concerning the CIA's assessment of Russia's drone strike allegation. It sounds like there are two key points of subtlety in Ratcliffe's briefing for Trump to consider. 1) Did Ukraine launch a drone attack against Russia that resulted in 91 drones for a time appearing to be headed toward Putin's residence, when in fact they were not, or was there no room for misinterpretation on the Russian side? 2) Was Putin himself properly briefed before he called Trump, or is it reasonable to suspect he was himself disinformed by subordinates?
In light of this, I'd prefer to see another call between Trump and Putin in the near future, and the Russian readout afterward. I won't presume to recommend what either President should say. They know better than I do, I am sure.
