Israel and Iran: The Second Coming and the Return of the Mahdi
Sunday 1:10 AM.
My comment at 1:04 AM on Prophecy Watch: The "Birthing" of Messiah and The Fall of Iran:
Toda Raba, Rabbi.
In addition to Torah portion Shemot, during which we read about the birth of Moses and the Theophany at the Burning Bush, we are also leaving behind the week of Epiphany in the Western tradition. There was a Venus cazimi on January 6 and a Mars cazimi on January 9, 2026, in an opposition to Jupiter. Regarding the reincarnation of the Jewish "star" of David, I want to suggest that the flag of the modern state of Israel is part and parcel of the Second Coming, and that this flag is a sign for modern astrologers with "ears to hear and eyes to see" just as much as the "star" of Bethlehem was a sign for the Persian magi back in the time of Herod.
A primary question for us at this juncture is whether the Second Coming of Yeshua will be embodied in one divine human individual alone, or whether it will be a gradual Israeli and worldwide awakening to something along the lines of the "global ethic" formulated by Swiss Catholic theologian Hans Küng. Maybe it's a bit more than a global ethic; maybe it's an Israeli Constitution on the way to a World Constitution. It's not up to any one man to say, but rather to the people of Israel and of the Earth to determine when referenda on the Israeli Constitution and UN Charter are in order.
Since you will be in Israel, Rabbi, there are two more points I would like to share with you. First, it might be more important for Messianic Judaism to convince mainstream Jewish rabbis that it's a legitimate branch of Judaism than it is to convince mainstream Jewish rabbis that Yeshua is God Incarnate and that he proved himself the Messiah in his first Advent. Second, Messianic Judaism needs to more explicitly embrace Rav Kook's vegetarian vision. I don't mean that I think the movement needs to become entirely vegetarian, but it will have more credibility with Jews and Gentiles alike as a messianic harbinger and catalyst if it starts to lead a bit more forcefully in this direction. These two recommendations work hand in hand. If Messianic Jewish leaders engage with prominent Jewish vegetarian leaders for dialogue, an important two-way recognition between Messianic Jews and vegetarian Jews about signs of the Messianic Age will begin to open up.
Regarding Iran, there will be a Jupiter cazimi in Leo (Mordad) on 29 July 2026, the sign of the lion and of immortality. It will be opposite a conjunction between the Moon and Pluto in Aquarius. Perhaps the lion will be restored to the flag of Iran by then, or perhaps it will be before Jupiter (the "king" planet) leaves Leo in late July of 2027. It's not really kosher to use astrology to predict something, because that is divination which is forbidden by the Torah. I am not here trying to predict, but rather to raise an option for the Iranian people to think about. There is no need to rush a flag change if that cannot wait until after a referendum on a new Iranian Constitution. On the other hand, there may be no other way. It is up to the genius of the Iranian people to decide.
What if the return of the Mahdi is also corporately symbolic, as opposed to strictly literal, and is represented by an observant Shia minority (or majority, depending on how "observant" is defined) within a secular Iranian state under a reformed UN Charter? What if the end of the Islamic revolution is the symbolic return of the Mahdi in a secular constitutional form? This would not mean that Khomeini got everything wrong about the occultation, but it would mean that Sistani got more right about revelation.
Addendum: Remember Saturday's 2:33 PM "Second Coming" synchronicity. 2033 CE could be a very important year.
