Can Jeffrey Sachs Be Turned Around on Russian Annexation of Ukraine? Is It Worth Debating Him?

12:38 AM Friday.

I won't watch the latest interview of Jeff Sachs by Glenn Diesen, but I will extend Sachs an olive branch by leaving a comment. Here is what I wrote: "For Sachs and Diesen: Even if Ukraine and NATO agree to all of Russia's demands (territorial cessions, neutrality and non-alignment, demilitarization, the lifting of sanctions, and the protection of Russian speakers), Russia's annexations will still be illegal according to the UN Charter. Why, under a credible peace plan that meets all of Russia's demands, shouldn't Russia and Ukraine be required to agree to resolve the long-term question of de jure recognition of territorial annexation at the ICJ?"

It's easier for me to think about talking to Jeff Sachs than it is to think about talking to the Kremlin.

End 1:24 AM.
