A Question for David Wurmser
11:57 PM.
My comment: "Thank you for this sober analysis. I am coming at this from the center-left with great respect for the right. My follow-up question for David is this: how important is it against the challenging overall security backdrop that you paint for Israel to normalize with Saudi Arabia? Is it important enough that the Knesset should put recognition of a Palestinian state on the table by a date certain if Palestinians meet reasonable deradicalization benchmarks? After October 7, given the situation that Israel is now in diplomatically and legally on its 8th front, can the Palestinian question still be set aside, or must it be faced directly by the Knesset in order to counter the Muslim Brotherhood meta-narrative and keep the Saudis on side? Phase 2 of Trump's plan calls for serious Palestinian nation-building. If the Knesset doesn't want to be seen as sabotaging this objective in Trump's eyes, why shouldn't the Knesset agree on a path to Palestinian statehood BEFORE Hamas refuses to disarm and BEFORE the IDF has to cross the yellow line? Why give the Muslim Brotherhood that 8th-front Phase 2 leverage up front?"
