Deciding to Vote Today

2:28 PM Tuesday.

I wasn't planning to vote today, but now I think I should play my part in helping to make Dorcey Applyrs the first African American mayor of Albany. She doesn't need my independent vote in this heavily Democratic city, I am sure, but God is watching me to see if I will do the right thing, and I want to stay in a state of relative grace. Applyrs has fantastic qualifications. I am very curious to see how Albany grows under her leadership.

There are many fine Italian Americans in Albany, and we have never had an Italian American mayor, either. I applaud Rocco Pezzulo for throwing his hat in the ring on the Republican side of the ledger. I trust that a good number of God-fearing conservative voters will give him a respectable showing.

The only other substantive choice I will need to make on this ballot is between William T. Little, Jr. and Dana Lynn Salazar for Supreme Court Justice of the 3rd Judicial District. I did a little research about the gender and party composition of the bench that you can see here:

Based on this research, I am voting for Salazar, a Republican woman, to help balance the bench out. I am assuming that both candidates are equally qualified, given their professional histories.

End 4:21 PM.
