I didn't follow any one specific plan suggested above, but I used parts from all of them. Now I have all of my sleepwear, socks, and underwear in a closet bureau, and all of my fall 2025 outfits on a single, decluttered closet rack. I also have a plastic storage bin that includes "time will tell" items as well as garments specific to the upcoming winter season. I don't have separate spring or summer storage bins because I don't have that many clothes yet. I guess I have a blank slate for those seasons.
Maybe it was an impulse purchase, but I ordered eight fall shirts, a second belt, socks, underwear, sleepwear and walking shoes. It was my first clothing purchase since November 2024. If I don't absolutely love any item and look forward to wearing it, I will return it straight away. That's my immediate next wardrobe step. More broadly, my autumn vegan wardrobe plan is to inventory and evaluate each of the outfits and related gear that I use this season.
To get the ball rolling, today I am wearing black All in Motion boxer briefs (medium); black Hanes ankle socks; a mute purple All in Motion crewneck t-shirt (medium); thyme-colored Prana Hybridizer shorts (32-inch waist, 10-inch inseam); and black Altra Escalante zero-drop running shoes. I am disappointed with my shoes because my big toe poked a hole into one of the lightweight mesh toe boxes not long after I got them for running last summer. I've given up running, more or less, in deference to walking, and I've ordered some budget zero-drop Whitin walking shoes with canvas uppers from Amazon in what I hope will prove to be a more durable alternative. The Prana shorts are now the only pair of casual shorts in my wardrobe, and they were a very good investment. They still fit perfectly. I got them at Eastern Mountain Sports. Next summer I want to add another pair or two. I will need to order them through Prana because EMS no longer has a store at Stuyvesant Plaza in Albany. The purple t-shirt is one of my favorites, but it doesn't match the fall mood. If I get precise about the color, it's lilac. That makes this shirt and shorts combination a great option for a warm spring day. When my new shirts arrive this weekend, I will have some more coordinated options to complement these shorts during any remaining warm walking days. The black Hanes ankle socks are currently my regulars.
Wore the same outfit today except the shirt was a blue Columbia t-shirt. Worked very well with the Prana shorts for my first 1-hour ruck with a 15# pack in 80 degree F weather.
ReplyDeleteCooler this Saturday, low 70s F. I am wearing a threadworn pair of Levi's Denizen jeans (32 x 32), a light green cotton t-shirt (medium) and a cracking brown pleather belt from Goodfellow. I got everything at Target 3-4 years back. Sky is overcast. This should be comfortable for 45-60 minutes of walking before the rain comes in.
ReplyDeleteFollow-up: I removed the leather tags from all my jeans by hand (even from the one pair of Prana jeans that I splurged on in 2024 during a visit to Manchester with family). I am not sure I can afford vegan jeans with vegan tags. They appear to be running well over a hundred dollars a pair. We'll see. Right now I have 3 worn pairs of Denizen's (2 blue, 1 tan) from Target and 1 newer pair of Prana's from the Mountain Goat.
ReplyDelete60s F today, topping out at 70F. I am wearing my old Levi's Denizen jeans and a new Askdeer green/brown cotton t-shirt that I just received from Amazon. This is comfortable inside and should be comfortable when I go out for a walk in the afternoon.
ReplyDeleteIt's 76F here in the loft and I am wearing my new warm-weather sleepwear. It's a pair of black David Archy men's bamboo/rayon pajama shorts (medium), a black David Archy men's bamboo/rayon crew neck t-shirt and a pair of black non-skid socks from unenow (for walking up and down my dark hardwood floor stairway to the bathroom at night). I also have on a new pair of black 5Mayi cotton boxer briefs. Everything fits well, is comfortable, and has an appealing minimalist aesthetic. I think this is the first dedicated warm-weather sleepwear I've ever purchased. I got a second pair of pajama shorts (gray) and 2 more shirts to rotate through the week between laundry loads. I also picked up two sets of black and gray David Archy cotton pajama pants and long-sleeved shirts for when the weather gets colder. Maybe in the winter I will add in two sets of black and gray flannel pajamas, depending on how low I set the thermostat at night. Now I just need to see how long this dedicated sleepwear lasts me, and if it supports my peace of mind throughout.
ReplyDeleteThis morning, in large part because I will be taking my mom to the hospital for 3-4 hours, I dressed in my khaki LL Bean standard fit chinos (33x32, Item 51307) made with cotton and Coolmax polyester; a caramel-colored Coofandy polyester blend long-sleeved henley (medium), a brown JUKMO quick-release tactical belt; heathered brown Dickies Dri-Tech quarter socks; 5Mayi cotton boxer briefs; and WHITIN zero drop, wide toe-box canvas upper walking shoes. Then I went for an hour-long walk in 48-55F temperatures and a clear sunny sky. Everything worked well. I felt very put together. But I will need an ultralight windbreaker and small fanny pack as it gets cooler.
ReplyDeleteI had to switch into my old jeans and my old belt to bundle up a little brush from the back yard this afternoon. I was able to get by in my adjustable dual comfort Crocs. I don't have work boots, work gloves, work pants and so on because I don't do that kind of thing anymore. I prefer to leave it up to experts. But I guess I will need to think about an outfit for helping out my mom with some light fall yard work between visits from the landscaping professionals.
