Waiting for the Third Smoke

Back on 24 April, I wrote that "I am framing my prayers for the next pope as a decision between Cardinal Pizzaballa and Cardinal Sarah." Now that conclave has started and I have heard about so many other strong candidates, I am no longer praying for anyone in particular. As I write this on Thursday morning at 8:30 AM Eastern, waiting for the third smoke, I am simply praying for the Holy Spirit to guide the cardinal electors in their discernment. By the time this post publishes at noon Eastern, we may have a new pope, or we may be waiting for the fourth smoke. Your will be done, Abba.
